The research centers on clearing titles for potential use for motion pictures and television, as well as complex issues concerning chain of title analysis. This includes determination of public domain status both domestically and internationally, termination rights, and Abend analysis, as well as analysis of assignments and contracts.
In addition, he is involved in the filing of registrations and recording of assignments including on an expedited basis, and the acquisition of documents for litigation from the Copyright Office. He received his BA (magna cum laude) from Brandeis University in 1972 and his JD from Boston College Law School in 1976. Robert Angel is a member of the Virginia Bar and the Copyright Society of the U.S.A. He has appeared in “Who’s Who In American Law.”
While in high school Robert and his brother Steven formed a band The 3 1/2 which went on tour with Herman’s Hermits. He still enjoys playing the organ and is an avid tennis player. Robert lives in Reston, VA with his wife Myra and two daughters Lauren and Jacqueline.
